Opened in 1966, this amusement park in Kuwana, Japan is the second largest amusement park in the nation. With 45 total rides and a water park, Nagashima Spa Land is considered a major attraction in western Japan.

Billed as the best amusement park for roller coasters, Spa Land has 10 of these thrill rides in total. The Steel Dragon 2000, a gigantic coaster that spans the entire length of the park, is the most famous ride. Visible from the main entrance, its highest peak stands nearly 100 meters tall.

The White Cyclone, a wooden roller coaster that opened in 1995, is the park’s second largest coaster. Since wooden structures are highly regulated by the Japanese government, the White Cyclone is a rare commodity known for its steep hill and zig-zags.

Spa Land also has a water park which houses more water slides than any site in the entire world. Visitors can enjoy eight slides, a giant pool, a wave pool and natural hot spring baths called onsen pools. Due to the steady volcanic activity in Japan, onsen water is geothermally heated beneath the ground and rises to the surface bubbling hot.

Nagashima Spa Land is open year-round and also features a Ferris wheel, log ride, go-carts and an assortment of kiddie rides. The nearby Jazz Dream shopping mall and Anpanman Children’s Museum provide even more entertainment for all ages.

jayvelasco427 A 15 min shuttle ride will take you to Nabana no Sato, a beautiful garden that does a winter illumination show. Definitely recommend the garden if you’re up for a less common (American) tourist destination!
