Saksun, Faroe Islands
Saksun Private Residence
Small homes like this in Saksun on the Faroe Islands were built with turf roofs to provide protection from the rain and thermal insulation.
Deemed to be one of the world’s oldest deserts, this arid area transcends country lines and is home to thriving wildlife (despite the lack of water). Situated along the coast, Namib is also known for its “Skeleton Coast,” AKA is treacherous shore, known to make boats… disappear. We never thought a desert would have an dangerous aquatic feature, but Namib isn’t exactly what it seems. Epic sand dunes, apparently super-powered wildlife, and vintage cars sitting in the sand show Namib to be a desert that is more than what meets the eye.
