In 1947, amidst post-war upheaval, Innocenti conceived Lambretta scooters to address Italy’s fuel shortages and vehicle affordability issues. Led by aeronautical expert Corradino D’Ascanio, they introduced a scooter that was easy to ride, reliable, efficient, and of course comfortable. The Lambretta’s groundbreaking design, deviating from traditional motorcycles and over time, it became an emblem of rebellion for the Mod subculture of younger generations in the UK.
