Chartres, France
Illiers-Combray Station
This French train station is located in a town renamed after the famed writer Marcel Proust's fictional name for the village.
Originally constructed as a local school but forced to shut down decades later due to dwindling numbers, Cardrona Hall now serves as a community hall and an occasional church for the tiny town. It’s important to note that this picturesque building would not exist without the labor of Chinese migrants, who helped build the New Zealand region of Otago during the Victorian gold rush of the 1860s.
