Steam Come True

Partner

Soaking in the bubbling waters of these Tuscan pools sure is peaceful. In ancient times, patrons of these springs came out so rejuvenated that it was supposed they had to have come from a divine happenstance. While the region is known for its culinary prowess and scenic landscapes, at Saturnia, it’s all about the water.

As the Ancient Roman story goes, Saturn, father of Jupiter, was so upset with the endless wars of mankind that he sent a thunderbolt right in the heart of Tuscany, creating a captivating group of hot springs that would bring peace to any who bathed in their waters. Since even Etruscan times, people have frequented the healing waters of Saturnia, hoping to get a taste of that “peaceful, easy feeling.”

Plentiful in hydrogen sulfide and other minerals, the water at Saturnia has been rising to the surface at a constant 99.5°F for more than 3,000 years. Due to this natural mineral-abundant concoction, the springs are famous for their rejuvenating effects, known to improve skin and soften wrinkles. Now that’s some divine work!

Seemingly sprung out of nowhere amongst the Tuscan countryside (godly thunderbolts make sense), the Saturnia Hot Springs are a top one-of-a-kind experience in a region known for many of them. While a scenic drive through the rolling hills or a glass of Chianti may provide a certain kind of relaxation, these waters appear to provide the impossible: ultimate peace.
