Built over 43-acres on the banks of Lake Pichola, the Trident Hotel in Udaipur, India is a lavish five-star establishment inspired by the architectural and cultural heritage of the area known as the “City of Lakes”. The interior decor of the building features traditional artifacts and a muted beige color scheme that reflect the old-world style of Udaipur.

Lake Pichola is one of seven lakes surrounding the city of Udaipur. It was man-made over 600 years ago to provide irrigation and drinking water to nearby villages, and development along the lake has been ongoing ever since, turning Udaipur into a cultural epicenter of the Indian state of Rajasthan. The area is filled with palaces, forts, museums, art galleries, gardens and temples. Udaipur’s economy is centered on tourism, so the Trident Hotel was a welcome addition when it was built in 1998.

The hotel continues to welcome guests today. The building houses a restaurant, health club, outdoor pool and the Bada Mahal, a 150-year-old wildlife conservatory where visitors can observe wild boar and spotted deer.
