An outdoor oasis so peaceful it could be fit for a prince. Well, it sits on what once was a prince’s land. Home to the first and largest alpine roller coaster in Texas (which is saying something) and RV camping perfect for a little R+R, this relatively new park is royally flush with fun.

Containing an acronym for “Fun is more fun outside” in its title, Camp Fimfo is all about living al fresco. Opened right off of Canyon Lake in 2021, the light-hearted campsite has attracted quite a few international visitors–which the nearby town of New Braunfels understands. Founded in 1845, the town was created as a colonial outpost for a New Germany in North America. Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels, who named the settlement after himself, chose the site as a new homeland for German emigrants. The Prince left as quickly as he came over, however as his betrothed wife, Sophie, refused to leave Germany for Texas. While the namesake royal left the town, the Germans stayed, and the area still enjoys a massive “Wurstfest” celebrating encased meats every year.

When needing a break from the Dussel and Jager dogs, a run (or maybe a light jog) over to Camp Fimfo is of the utmost importance. Offering a multitude of attractions including swim-up bars, a zipline, and two miles of hiking trails, there’s even a river to tube in to rest that wurst-filled stomach.

Emphasizing the importance of outdoor activity over indoor isolation, Camp Fimfo is an adventure for all ages. Surrounded by a forest fortress and a moat of natural waters and streams, it’s a suitable home for any noble (or normal) guest.
