Tenby Beach was recently named one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and, while we can’t be sure if this ice cream truck was used for bribery during the decision process, we can confirm Tenby is a sight worth seeing – as is one of its somewhat surprising visitors 🦭

The pristine curvature of cool bay water and unblemished sand of Tenby North Beach was recently awarded a Blue Flag, a world-renowned eco-label designated by the Foundation for Environmental Education. Perhaps that’s what attracted its most unique visitor…

In March 2021, a blubberous blob poked its tusks out of the clear blue waters and laid along the Royal and National Lifeboat Institution’s slipway. Wally the Walrus, as the friendly fellow is now known, made his way to Tenby from the shores of Ireland before making stops in England, France, Spain and Iceland. Researchers suspect the wayward traveler fell asleep on an Arctic ice floe before waking up in the waters of the British Isles. Needless to say, Wally was the star of the summer in the waters of northwest Europe.

While we can’t promise who you’ll bump into at this heavenly harbor, make sure you “make memories, not mess” and clean up any litter after yourself–that includes any cups or cones you may have the pleasure of trying from Pembrokeshire Ice Cream Co.–we wouldn’t want to scare off our friend Wally, should he ever wander back to Wales.
