Add coconuts to the list of deadly things that can kill you in Australia…

There are almost 9,000 active coconut trees in Douglas Shire. Each coconut weights up to 3.6 kilograms and fall up to 24 meters from taller trees. This coconut empire sits on Oak Beach, a coastal town in Douglas. Within Oak Beach is a idyllic eco-retreat: Thala Beach Nature Reserve. Thala Beach is 58 acres of native beach, and boasts boutique bungalows that are scattered throughout the area. The reserve, beach, and coast are definitely worth a visit, just make sure you look up before you walk.
