Cornwall’s north coast has been Britain’s surf capital since four Australian lifeguards rolled into Newquay in 1962 with fibreglass boards and forever changed the town. Sixty-three years later, a new wave is breaking: humpback whales, absent from these waters for decades, now visit each winter to feed. SeaSpace opened in 2025 as a design-forward hotel where you can swim laps in a Miami-meets-Art-Deco pool in the morning, then walk the coastal path to spot 40-ton mammals breaching offshore—one of the few places in the UK where this is possible.
