Teatro de Romea
This resilient theater has weathered two destructive fires, and continues to be one of the most important cultural centers throughout Spain.
Warren, Rhode Island
David and Victoria Podsnap opened Galactic Theatre in Providence as a place where vaudeville nostalgia collides with rockabilly grit and classic tattoo shop aesthetics. There’s a bar, but calling it a bar misses the point. It’s more like a living room for music obsessives who want to talk about obscure B-sides, catch a show in a room that holds maybe a hundred people, and feel like they’ve stumbled into someone’s basement in 1978. The decor leans into vintage Americana: old concert posters, red vinyl booths, dim Edison bulbs, the kind of place where everyone looks a little weird and no one cares. Live music runs most nights, spanning punk, surf rock, country, garage bands, and whatever genre-defying act the Podsnaps book next. Regulars describe it as a haven. Visitors describe it as unexpected. Both groups usually stay longer than planned. One theatre. No velvet ropes. No dress code. Just noise, community, and cheap beer.
