To many in Brazil, the Botanical Garden of Curitiba is more than just a breathtaking park: it serves as the unofficial symbol of not only the city of Curitiba, but also all of South Brazil. Despite its French-inspired design, the garden stay true to its roots (so to speak), featuring plenty of beautiful local flora. It’s hard to imagine, but the gardens were originally built in 1991 on land that previously served as a landfill. It couldn’t be more opposite from a landfill today!
