Meaning “angle” or “corner”  in old French, you only need to try to pronounce this building’s name in order to understand what it once was. Initially home to the Security Trust & Safe Deposit Company, the building housed many a (you guessed it) coin in its coffers. Now a luxury hotel, it costs a little coin to stay there. We’ll stop.

Opened in 2022, the Quoin opened to great fanfare in downtown Wilmington, and features the city’s first ever rooftop bar. The converted 1885 structure now hosts 24 rooms and suites, along with a restaurant on the main floor. First designed by local architect Frank Furness, the structure was fully renovated and cleaned to its former glory. Hints to the building’s old occupation can be found throughout the hotel, including its subterranean bar, located in the old money vault.

Aptly named Simmer Down, the cozy low lit bar is perfect spot to plop after a long day and spend some coin. Oops.
