Hossein Sajedi spent four decades collecting musical instruments from across Iran before opening the country’s first specialized sound museum in 2018. Housed in a Qajar-era mansion on Tarbiat Road, his private museum showcases over 300 sound-related objects where you’ll find everything from traditional tar lutes to hundreds of vintage vacuum tube radios and rare oil-powered receivers. The collection includes instruments crafted from fruit cores, an audio archive of calls to prayer spanning generations, and paintings of musicians. Each gallery bearing the name of a great Iranian artist.
