The sinking house is …not actually sinking. Instead, this optical illusion highlights the peculiar topography of Butte Montmartre—the highest natural point in Paris. The bonus for ascending the narrow alleyways and steep slopes that snake up around the uniquely positioned house is a visit to the strikingly gorgeous Sacré-Coeur basilica, perched at its peak and set against the breathtaking background of the city of light.
