North Mole Light
The North Mole Lighthouse is one of a pair of "twin" lighthouses found at the entrance to Fremantle Harbour in Western Australia.
Commonly referred to as the heart of Santa M0nica, this pier is considered to be one of the most photographed locations in the world! Upon its creation in the early 1900s, the pier was originally constructed to dispose of sewage, but thankfully that role was short lived. It then became a favorite fishing spot for locals and rides were added to the pier in the mid 1920s.
Not only that, the Santa Monica Pier was the backdrop of the creation of “Popeye,” inspired by a sailor who frequented the Pier. Adding to the cast of characters that the Pier produced was one of the most famous lifeguards ever, Preston “Pete” Peterson, who created the standard lifesaving tube used by lifeguards worldwide. From rides to life saving techniques, the Santa Monica Pier continues to bridge nostalgia and local culture.
