Colorado Railroad Museum

The Colorado Railroad Museum is home to an impressive collection of historic locomotives, railcars, and artifacts that offer a glimpse into the fascinating history of rail transportation in the American West. The museum’s collection includes over 100 rolling stock pieces, such as steam, diesel, and electric locomotives, passenger cars, and freight cars.

Visitors can explore a fully restored telegraph office, which showcases the vital role that telegraphy played in coordinating train movements and ensuring safety on the rails.

One of the highlights of the museum’s collection is the Rio Grande Southern Galloping Goose, a unique type of railcar that was used for passenger and freight service in the mountainous regions of Colorado. The museum’s Galloping Goose is one of only seven known to exist and offers a fascinating look at the ingenuity and resourcefulness that were necessary to navigate the challenging terrain of the Rocky Mountains.
