Hello from Singapore! AWA had the honor of being a media partner for the second year in a row for the World Architecture Festival (WAF) in Singapore. Join us as our AWA Ambassador, Kevin Siyuan, takes us through the 3 day event. Does anything look familiar? 😉
World Architecture Festival (WAF) has taken place at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, on the 6 – 8 November 2024, and Accidentally Wes Anderson is proud to be the Media Partner of WAF for the second year running.
WAF is where the world architecture community meets to celebrate, learn, exchange and be inspired.
Every year, WAF hosts the world’s biggest live-judged architecture awards programme. It celebrates design achievements through presentations by architects to high-profile delegates and international judging panels.
This year, AWA was honored to have our very own booth at the festival, featuring a mini photo exhibition of 6 awesome photos from book 2, a video showcase playing reels of AWA’s ongoing book tour and some awesome WAF shortlisted projects from Singapore, and of course, a preview copy of Accidentally Wes Anderson: Adventures was also on display, enlightening many thrilled WAF delegates (many of them are huge fans of AWA from all parts of the planet).

/Our booth was located right next to WAF’s giant inflatable “W” where many delegates stopped by for a photo. That’s right, a picture perfect location whereby the delegates were drawn by the mesmerizing photos on display after their selfies, and our booth garnered huge interests throughout the festival. Many admired the whimsical beauty of the Tourlitis Lighthouse, the architectural marvels of Palacio De Aguas Corrientes, however, none could pronounce the famous station name: “LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLLGOGERYCHWYRNDROBWLLLLANTYSILIOGOGOGOCH.”
AWA Singapore ambassador Kevin also brought a few of our local fans to experience the lively atmosphere and happenings WAF has to offer. The festival space of WAF was organized in a very interesting manner, with many events happening all at once. There are keynote talks and presentations happening at the main stage, live judging of finalists’ projects happening in small bubbly crit rooms, exhibition area for networking and even some ping pong tables to exercise and make new friends. Here is a fun reel Kevin and the squad have made at the festival (see reel in folder).

/Another interesting initiative we have done this time round is the Singapore shortlists showcase, a mini film where Kevin brings AWA: Adventures on an adventure in some of the finest architectural projects in Singapore. Watch the full mini film and try to spot all our book cameos.
On the final day of WAF, we had a lovely presentation session in one of the crit rooms, where Kevin shared with the delegates more on AWA:Adventures as well as some of AWA’s ongoing activities around the globe. A lucky draw was conducted at the end of the session.
Congrats to Andre Pokorny from studio vapore for your autographed copy of Accidentally Wes Anderson: Adventures! Hope you will enjoy the book and the analog alarm clock!
The final day was really exciting as judging for World Building of the Year was taking place at the main stage, attended a packed hall filled with world’s best architects, and where Darlington Public School by fjcstudio from Australia eventually emerged as the overall winner.
We had a blast at WAF24 it has been a great pleasure networking with the global architecture community! We hope you have enjoyed the events we have prepared either online or onsite.
This is Kevin, signing off.
