Once a 16th century Franciscan monastery, this delightful square lies in the heart of Guadalajara. Translated to “Quarter of the Nine Corners” (and also referred to as Barrio de San Francisco), the quarter is home to the intersection of nine streets, hence the perfectly fitting name. This peculiar traffic layout originates from the Mexicaltzingo area of Mexico, and the growing stream of visitors resulted in many restaurants being built in the area. Birrieria Las 9 Esquinas serves up birrieria and other delicious local delicacies. Explore Jalisco for its deep rooted history, as well as, of course, the delicious food. Just make sure to look 9 ways when crossing the street.
