Savelletri sits along the Adriatic Sea, as a celebratory coastal town within Italy’s magnificent Puglia region. Renowned for its beaches, seafood cuisine, and locally harvested olive oil, it’s also just a hop, skip, and an acrobatic flip away from Fasano, famous for its maze of medieval streets.
If you’re looking for something more modern, cross your fingers that Circus Atmosphere will be passing through town during your visit. Created by a family with deep roots in the Italian circus, the spectacle was designed to balance tradition with modernity, resulting in a wildly entertaining, unusual, magical circus that has figured out a way to be a bit more ethical.
Animals abound in the show, but these ones are virtual: projected onto a large net, to fantastical effect. Rather than the projection making them feel less real, a viewer experiences them in a gigantic, immersive manner, with an illusion so advanced that you’re inclined to reach out to pet the immense monkey, or bolt from your seat before the encroaching, untamed lion eats your head.
