Residents of Falkenberg don’t check their calendars to know when the summer has arrived. They check for the bus.

For the past twenty years, a London style double decker bus has been driving to Falkenberg each June to park along the Skrea Strand. Between the sand dunes and chilly waters of a Swedish summer is a classic British “chippy,” serving fish n’ chips, mushy peas, and tartar sauce. Perfect fuel for a day of swimming.

In August, when the bus puts away its fish and its chips and closes its register for the last time, residents know that the bus will return for the next summer, as reliable as the season itself.
